57 competitors converged on Hidden Valley for the first Beat the Heat Off Street event for 2010 on Friday night and the wide variety of cars was evident from the onset.
Several competitors dropped into the 11 second zone with their street cars, including Daniel Anderson's 1970 XW Falcon (11.553sec) and Chris Surin in his Holden Torana (11.872sec).
But it wasn't just the fast cars that captured the crowd’s attention they also varied greatly in age. From the 1965 Ford Cobra of Kris Kena to the 2008 HSV GTS of Nick Mellios there was over 40 years of motoring performance on show.
12 year old Nathan Coles also debuted in his new Junior Dragster. Recently imported from America, Coles powered the 210cc powered dragster to a new personal best of 8.076 over the 1/8th mile, a fantastic effort considering it was his first ever pass in the new dragster.
Fastest Reaction Time went to Josh Schuit on a 1981 BMW Motorbike with a 0.432sec reaction.
Unfortunately rain put a dampener on the event which had to close early but not before some great racing by all.
The Perfect Reaction Jackpot remains unclaimed and will rise to $200 next month when Off Street racing will again return on Friday 16 April at Hidden Valley.
